Marina Alexander, LMFT
I believe that my job as a therapist is to meet each individual where they are - in order to get them to where they want to be. I believe that having a secure connection and satisfying relationships with self and others are essential for long term health and well-being, and work toward that state through establishing supportive and healthy relationships.
Drawing from my training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Mindfulness Based and Solution-Focused Therapy, and EMDR, my counseling process is focused, tailored, and goal oriented.
I am a Fully Trained EMDR therapist, and I continue to increase my therapy skills by frequently attending conferences, workshops, and advanced study groups. I bring a holistic approach to psychotherapy. In addition to my psychotherapy training, I am also a Licensed Practitioner in the Science of Mind Philosophy, and a long standing member of the “Centers for spiritual Living” and the Global Truth Center, Los Angeles. I am also a Certified DreamBuilder Life Coach, with Mary Morrissey’s Life Mastery Institute – the Premier Training Center for Transformational Coaching. This is a uniquely powerful transformational program that empowers my clients to live the life they truly love.
I am passionate about working with people who make the brave choice to step into therapy and into healing, and consider it a great privilege to work with those who want to better themselves and their relationships!

Working from a predominantly attachment and psychodynamic orientation, I incorporate somatic processing and mindfulness practices, focusing on trauma and secure attachment recovery. I am relationally based, and work with a wide variety of clients, including those with addictions, dual diagnosis, anxiety and depression, regulation issues, and grief and loss.  I do a great deal of work with couples, as well as  individuals, and  adolescents and families. I also offer parenting support and coaching to address relational, developmental, and diagnosis and recovery issues. I offer EMDR for trauma processing, and CRM and TRM resiliency practices.  I've trained in community mental health at the Southern California Counseling Center.
While there,  I facilitated the Best Practices Parenting Classes, and  received further training at SCCC emphasizing both couples and family psychotherapy, and a wide array of theoretical frameworks, emphasizing community based mental health and social empowerment.  I received specialized school-based training for children and adolescents at SCCC and have worked in elementary, middle and high school settings.  As a long time student of yoga and meditation, I completed teacher trainings at both Yogaworks, Santa Monica, and with Master Yogi Erich Schiffman. I have taught trauma-informed yoga at SCCC-Watts,   maintain a meditation practice, and sit with InsightLA.
