Internships for Master of Social Work (MSW),
Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT),
and pre doctoral Psychologist
are offered at several of our service sites in Malibu.
Our intern program is in process to be an APPIC (Association for Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Center) and APA member and meets all requirements for APA accreditation.
1. Trainees will work with children who seek treatment for ADHD, Depression and Anxiety. Additionally, providing parent/family counseling. Counseling will take place in a school setting. Individual supervision will be provided 1 hour per week, group supervision will be 2 hours per week. Minimum number of hours required per week are 15 hours. Trainee will participate in training in positive discipline, solution-focused therapy as well as opportunities to attend SMMUSD mental health trainings. Trainee must be available from 8-3 at least two days a week.
2. We require an APA/CPA-accredited doctoral internship
3. Provide students, families and teachers with individual counseling, group counseling, neurofeedback and EMDR. Decrease the occurence of suspensions, expulsions and truancy. Increase students' academic performance and connection to their peers. Provide teachers and parents with positive discipline techniques and other parenting tools.
4. Previous clinical experience is not required but is strongly recommended.
5. Additional activities our site provides: SMMUSD trainings, positive discipline training, art therapy and therapeutic writing training.

Dr. Milena Imhof is a Licensed Psychologist who works clinically with individuals of diverse ages and backgrounds. As a trained professional Dr. Imhof has extensive experience helping adults, adolescents, children, families, and couples, and has been honored to witness the courage of her clients manifest through marked improvement in their wellbeing and livelihood. Dr. Imhof is not only well versed in evidence based treatments; she also champions the importance of the working alliance formed with each client through empathetic understanding. In addition to working with adults Dr. Imhof also specializes in psychological assessment, as well as working with troubled adolescents and their families. Dr. Imhof has worked at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles – Division of Adolescent Medicine and high schools across Los Angeles. She is particularly concerned with the impact of socioeconomic extremes at both ends of the spectrum on adolescent development, and the healthy functioning of youth within their unique family context. Dr. Imhof has authored a booklet for mental health professionals working with affluent adolescents, in order to improve quality of care and raise awareness about the challenges teens in affluent communities face. (Dr. Imhof also provides supervision to psychologists in training.

Dr. Jennifer Johnston-Jones is a clinical psychologist and founder of Roots & Wings, a non-profit organization whose mission is to increase joy and make the world a better place through teaching psychological tools for healing and raising the future. She uses evidenced-based psychology and neuroscience to teach people therapeutic tools they can use to significantly improve their life, experience more joy, and to evolve fear, anxiety, and anger into psychological growth. She is a renowned speaker keynoting conferences and conducting workshops and has worked with the world’s most prestigious companies and organizations including executives from Facebook, Summit Series, MTV, UCLA, and various startup founders & CEOs. She's been featured in media such as Fast Company, Enterprising Women, Success, ABC, NBC, Fox News, and the LA Times, to name a few. Dr. Johnston-Jones has a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology and studied at the University of Oregon, the American Psychological Association accredited Alliant University, and the UCLA Neuropsychiatric Institute.
