
Deborah Owen-Sohocki, LPC has been working with children for 41 years in the classroom as a teacher and, since 2005, as a licensed professional counselor. In 1988, she began using Positive Discipline as a parent and teacher, and found that it totally transformed her experience with her children and her students. She began teaching Positive Discipline Parenting classes in 1989. In 1990 she became an education specialist at the Texas Education Center, Region II teaching Positive Discipline as a way to help prevent drug, teenage pregnancy, and gangs. She became a Certified Positive Discipline Trainer in 1993 training parents and teachers throughout the US and Europe, in Columbia, and Canada. Having taught students at all grade levels, from preschool through college, she specializes working with high risk students, special education, and ADHD. She is a co-author of Positive Discipline: A Teacher’s A-Z Guide. As a featured speaker and trainer at the Texas Alcohol and Drug Abuse Conferences, HeadStart, YMCA, Family Outreach, North American Society of Adlerian Psychology, and many other agencies, schools, and businesses throughout the US, she has continued to promote Positive Discipline as a way to transform relationships in families, schools, communities, and businesses. She continues to use Positive Discipline in all her personal relationships as a parent, step-parent, and grand-parent.
